Recession - how is everyone managing?

We definitely are living in a trying era. It seems like every time that I read the news, there seems to be another company layoff. I have been Ms. Scrooge McDuck for the last year-penny pinching. I have been adding a little water to the hand soap dispenser to make it stretch, getting a manicure or pedicure done every three months, or just simply not filling up my gas tank each time at the pump.

What definitely has helped me out was buying bulk. I have a membership at Costco's, and shop there every three weeks, buying only the necessities. I purchase chicken breast, one bag of frozen vegetables, apples, bread and tuna. It has saved me about $80 per month, which has definitely helped until I can get my feet on the ground. I am currently unemployed.

So tell me, how do you manage?

I now have 3 jobs. It is taking a toll on me.. but I am getting a lot of debts paid off that I couldn't before. One of the jobs is only seasonal, so it ends after Christmas.

I had not been filling my car up the hilt. My family and I have not been going to movies or out to dinner....so all recreation stopped.

I had just been pinching pennies and keeping quiet. Now that gas has gone down, I have been doing a little more with family. Not too excited tho... I know things might be changing really soon back to how they were since I know this gas drop is political.

I'm currently still have a job, thank the Lord. The company I work for is going thru a merge though(alltel/verizon), so who know's where I'm going to be at months from now. Its just bad timing for us to be in recession. I haven't been saving money at all. Just had my 21st bday in October so I pretty much spent my whole check on the. Then with the holidays coming I'm probably going to be spending more and more money. I'm not very good at saving my money lol
